Bishop of Kontagora Donates Cash & Food Items

Most Rev. Dr Bulus Dauwa Yohanna, the Bishop of Kontagora (Catholic Diocese) has donated cash gifts and assorted food items worth hundreds of thousands of Naira to the less privileged parishioners in neighbouring Kebbi and Niger state respectively.

The food items were shared to the 1,435 beneficiaries in the two states and it includes; rice, maize, noodles, biscuits, seasonings and different brands of beverages as parts of the Catholic Bishop’s gift of love and celebration of the Christmas and New Year.

In an interview, Bishop Yohanna, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) chairman for Niger state said the event which is his way of celebrating the yuletide annually is specifically targeted at widows, widowers, orphans and those who cannot afford at least a meal per day.

He said, “This is my own way of celebrating the Christmas and the New Year, and this is primarily geared towards improving the living conditions of the widows, the orphans, the poor and the less privileged ones”.

“The last time we were able to reach out to a little above 1,000 beneficiaries. So far, for this time around we are reaching out to 1,435 beneficiaries in both Kontagora Diocese both parishes in Niger and Kebbi states respectively.”

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Godiya Adamu in an interview expressed appreciation to the CAN Chairman for reaching out to them, especially with the harsh economic realities which have made it almost impossible for the average family to survive.

Godiya who told our correspondent that she and her family members have been surviving the hard times through the mercy of God said, “The gesture, remembering a poor woman like me can only be from God.”
