Borno Government Signs N358bn Budget for 2024

Borno State Government has Signed N358bn Budget for 2024.

Babagana Zulum, the Governor of Borno State, has signed the N358,7 billion 2024 Appropriations Bill, which the State House of Assembly approved with N18.1 billion adjustment.

The updated recurring spending is N150.4 billion, whereas the revised capital expenditure is above N208.4 billion because of the increase in the budget size.

The Governor received the amended appropriations bill on Wednesday, 10th January 2024, in the Government House in Maiduguri’s Council Chamber from the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Abdulkarim Lawan.

During his speech, Zulum urged State Executive Council members and Heads of Agencies to abide rigorously by the rules of the Appropriation Bill while submitting their letters for approval.

Zulum stated, “We must commend the House of Assembly, maturity of the House leadership.”

As for the appropriations law, the Governor was upbeat about its effects and emphasized that its N208.7 billion capital spending is intended to provide dividends of democracy to the citizens.

The Speaker had already hailed the Governor for the excellent projects he has carried out throughout the State during the previous 5 years.

The Speaker pointed out that some sectors of vital importance to people’s lives were to be covered by the upward review of the Appropriations Bill.

Abdullahi Askira, the Speaker’s Deputy, and other top House Officials were in attendance.
