Female Banker Commits Suicide in Lagos

By Reporter 5

A female bank employee in Ikorodu, Lagos State, who worked in the marketing department, took her own life on Monday, 8 January 2024, within the bank’s property.

It was gathered that Amarachi Ugochukwu, 32, who passed away, had drank insecticide to end her life.

Ugochukwu entered the lavatory at around 1:00 pm where she drank the insecticide, unknown to her colleagues.

When the phone she left on her table began ringing and she was not there to answer it, other staff members began searching for her.

A Police source revealed that Ugochukwu was discovered dead inside the lavatory, along with her suicide note and the insecticide bottle.

According to the suicide note made available, she was driven by the harsh economy to take her life as nothing was going well for her.

The note reads; “Nothing is working in my life. My figures are low. My brain is clogged up. The economy is getting harder. My decisions are wrong. My mind is messed up. The future doesn’t seem bright at all. I see extreme hardship. I can’t bear the pain anymore”.

“I’m sorry mum, I’m sorry dad, I’m sorry Nene, Okwe, Toto, Nazor, Chuchu, Ifunanya,” she added. The note ends with an appeal to God to have mercy on her.

According to the Police Source, the manager of the bank reported the incident to the Police, telling the Police that Ugochukwu locked herself up in the toilet to commit suicide, and she was found dead when the door was forced open.
