By Reporter 2
On Tuesday, 16th January 2024, the Supreme Court postponed deciding on the Peoples Democratic Party’s appeal against the ruling of the Appellate Court that reinstated Abdullahi Sule as the Governor of Nasarawa State.
The five-member panel, presided over by Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, heard the arguments made by the Attorney on the appeal and postponed the case for a decision.
Kekere-Ekun stated that the parties would be informed when the verdict is ready.
The State Election Petition Tribunal removed the Governor from office and proclaimed PDP candidate David Ombugadu as the winner of the March 18, 2023 election.
After weighing the evidence presented to the panel, the PDP candidate proved his allegation that the poll results were rigged in Sule’s favor, the tribunal headed over by Ezekiel Ajayi, ruled two votes to one.

However, Sule was reinstated by the Appellate Court, which also ruled that the tribunal had erroneously depended on the testimony of eight PDP witnesses, none of whose sworn statements had been front-loaded with the petition.
However, Ombugadu filed an appeal with the Appellate Court over the ruling.
While everything is going on, security personnel are fighting to keep the assembly of politicians that attended the governor and the candidate for governor in court under control.
