At about 7:30 pm today, Tuesday, January 16, 2024, in different areas of Ibadan, Oyo State, there was an explosion that has left residents of Ibadan in panic as to what the exact cause of the explosion was.

Reacting to the incident, different users on X had different causes of the explosion as the exact cause is yet to be identified at the time of filing this report.

According to reports, there are casualties at the Bodija area of the city with many houses collapsing and materials shattering in some areas.

In a release signed by the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, it was stated categorically that the State Government “has taken over and in full control of the unfortunate incident in order to mitigate the incident.”

It stated further that the Governor had deployed security service chiefs in different strata “to reign in the spillover from the explosion.”

The Governor, concluding, urged citizens to be calm and assured that their interests are being looked after.
