AFCON: We are yet to Play our Best Football -Osimhen
By Reporter 3
Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has claimed that the team has not played their best football yet at the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations ( AFCON).
Nigeria has recorded three wins and one draw in their four games in Cote d’Ivoire, including against hosts Cote d’Ivoire and Cameroon.
Despite their impressive performance during the last match, Osimhen promises good outing in their next encounter.
“I cannot lie, we haven’t played the best of our football yet. I think the whole team has this mentality of winning, we want to win,” Osimhen told reporters.
“For me we are more like a family than just players. So for me it is important to have this mentality of winning.”
“I want to give kudos to my defenders. They have been focused since the start of this competition. We also have a good goalkeeper [Nwabali]. We want to keep this momentum going.”
The Super Eagles will take on Angola in a quarter-final fixture on Friday, 2nd February 2024 in the ongoing AFCON.
