Insecurity – Tinubu on Top of Domestic Issues says Presidency
By Reporter 2
The Presidency has responded to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on his claim that President Bola Tinubu is fiddling while the country is submerging itself in a sea of insecurity.
“Tinubu is playing fiddle while Nigeria is drowning in the ocean of insecurity,” Atiku had stated via his X handle.
Imagine, among other frequent tragedies plaguing Nigerians, that the Commander-in-Chief is on a supposedly private vacation while kidnappers murder two monarchs in Ekiti, a nursing mother, and a grandmother in Abuja, for not paying a N90 million ransom.
“Emilokan needs to step aside if the shoes are too big for him. No more Tourist-in-Chief is needed in Nigeria. To address the widespread insecurity and failing economy, the nation requires leadership that is available around-the-clock.”
In a statement, Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, claimed that Atiku had made a careless remark.
It demonstrated how the former Vice President was still suffering from the fallout from his loss in the election and was now using any opportunity to criticize President Tinubu.
He stated that the Security Services were exerting a great deal of effort to stabilize the security situation and that President Tinubu was providing them with all the resources they needed to defeat the criminal element and safeguard every square inch of the nation.
According to the statement, “To put it mildly, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar acted recklessly when he said that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was meddling amid certain security and economic issues.”
Not exactly the kind of comment one would anticipate from an aging statesman, his most recent remarks came days after he made an equally reckless accusation against the President regarding the crude for loan arrangement for NNPC Limited.
We hope that Alhaji Atiku has moved on from his electoral failure and is no longer nursing a hangover, as he now attacks President Tinubu on any subject.
President Tinubu did not leave without letting the Nigerian people know where he was. He declared his intention to travel to France in secret and gave a return date.
President Tinubu has been monitoring domestic affairs while in France, and he is aware of the state of affairs in the nation. Today, the Tripartite Committee on National Minimum Wage’s launch received President Tinubu’s approval.
He has given the go-ahead to eradicate all forms of criminal activity in the nation and is in daily communication with his officials and Security Chiefs.
Specifically, he has given them orders to capture the criminals behind the kidnapping of some state students and the death of two monarchs in Ekiti State.
With over 139 kidnappers apprehended in the previous week in the areas of Abuja, Kaduna, and Benue State, we are already seeing results.
In recent days, the police Special Intervention Squad (SIS) and DSS have also freed 154 kidnapped individuals.
President Tinubu only approved a N50 billion Special Fund last week to address some of the ongoing security issues in Alhaji Atiku’s home region of the North East.
President Tinubu also approved funding for the purchase of equipment to follow criminals to address the issues posed by abduction in the Federal Capital Territory.
Alhaji Atiku should have known that President Tinubu was keeping an eye on matters and making a concerted effort to bring peace to all regions of our nation if he was genuinely concerned about security concerns and wasn’t just playing cheap politics.
To control the security situation, our security agencies are working really hard. President Tinubu is providing them with all the assistance they require to defeat criminal elements and safeguard every square inch of our nation.
