Angolan President Encourages Palancas Negras
By Reporter 3
The Angolan President, João Lourenço, said he is happy with the team’s performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Recall that Palancas Negras was eliminated from the competition by Nigeria on Friday, 2nd February 2024.
It was the third time they had made it to the AFCON quarter-final.
Ademola Lookman scored the only goal for Super Eagles which sent Angola packing from the tournament.
Despite the loss, Lourenco urged the players not to be discouraged as the country is proud of their exploits in Cote d’Ivoire.
“In this CAN we did well, but we need to improve and learn from our mistakes.”
“Don’t be discouraged; the next one will be ours, just depending on all of us, MINJUD, FAF, Palancas, and all Angolan fans,” the Angolan President wrote (translated) on his official X social network account.
