Jimi Solanke, a seasoned actor and folk singer, passed away.

At the age of eighty-one, the renowned poet and dramatist passed away on Monday, 5th February 2024.

He was reported to have fallen victim to death’s icy grip while being transported from his rural residence in Ipara Remo, Remo North Local Government Area, Ogun State, to Babcock University Teaching Hospital, Ilisan.

It was said that actor Solanke visited the hospital on and off from December until his passing on Monday morning, 5th February 2024.

Our correspondent received confirmation from Hon. Dickson Awolaja, the state assembly representative for Remo North State Constituency, regarding the extremely talented artist’s departure.

Hon. Awolaja stated, “I recently learned about Pa. Jimi Solanke’s passing. Given his excellent contributions to the advancement of our beloved country, his passing is undoubtedly another great loss for us in Remo North and Ogun State as a whole. May peace be upon his soul.”

Among his many accomplishments are Kongi’s Harvest, Sango, and Shadow Parties. Another name for him is Uncle Jimi.
