APC Claim Opposition Parties Funding anti-Tinubu demonstrations
By Reporter 2
The opposition parties have been accused by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of organizing large-scale demonstrations against President Bola Tinubu‘s administration under the pretense of opposing the rising cost of living in the nation.
According to an APC statement released in Abuja on Tuesday, 6 February 2024, “opposition parties have resorted to inciting unsuspecting young people to protest in the streets of some major cities” in an apparent attempt to paint the APC-led Government as being underperforming.
It said that this crafty and disloyal scheme was what gave rise to the protests that took place on Monday, 5 February 2024, in Minna and Kano.
“It is not a coincidence that the protests took place at the same time in both locations. It has the audacious hallmark of a well-planned and coordinated attempt to sow discord and topple the administration. This mercenary opposition strategy directly threatened national security and public tranquility.”
“While we acknowledge that citizens have the right to peaceful protest, we implore our decent people to remain watchful and resist the opposition parties’ devious attempts to sow social unrest with their divisive language and cunning schemes.”
“The administration of President Bola Tinubu is steadfastly dedicated to exerting all of its efforts to lessen the temporary discomfort associated with monumentally significant reforms that are essential to the nation’s economic revival and long-term prosperity for all Nigerians.”
“It is our duty as law-abiding citizens of our cherished nation to support our administration in this admirable endeavor. With time, these policy changes will result in a long-lasting positive change in the nation’s material living standards.”
The Party’s spokesperson, Felix Morka, stated, “We implore Nigerians to shun the cunning and unpatriotic attempt by opposition elements to destabilize the country for their own base and parochial political gains.”
