By Reporter 2

An Abuja Federal High Court has granted the suspended dean of the University of Calabar’s Faculty of Law, Prof. Cyril Ndifon, bail.

He was also given bail, as was his attorney Sunny Anyanwu, who was charged alongside him by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission.

Trial on four revised counts of alleged sexual harassment and conspiracy to pervert justice is presently underway for the professor and his attorney.

Anyanwu received bail of N50 million with two sureties, while Ndifon received bail of N250 million with two sureties.

“Bail is granted to the first defendants in the sum of N250m with two sureties who own properties within FCT with a minimum valuation of N150m,” stated Justice James Omotoso, the trial judge, in response to their bail application made on Friday, 9th February 2024.

“Bank statement submission is required from the first defendant and his two sureties.

“The first defendant is required to present the court with his international passport.”

Bail for the second defendant is set at N50 million, with two sureties to provide their bank statements.

“Defendants are required to file an undertaking promising not to interfere with the case, to be ready for trial, and not to cause any delays.”

The case was postponed until Monday by Judge Omotosho so that the hearing could continue.
