Seven persons, including three little children, were killed when a Russian drone strike on the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv resulted in fires, destruction of residential buildings, and other issues, according to Regional Authorities on Saturday, 10 February 2024.
According to Oleh Synehubov, Regional Governor of Kharkiv, the Russian Military attacked the city late on Friday, 9 February 2024, damaging at least 15 residential buildings in the east of Kharkiv as well as civilian infrastructure and starting multiple big fires.
He said on the Telegram messaging service, “Seven people died as a result of the strikes, among them three children: seven, four, and a baby about six months old.”
He added that three people had injuries.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, 23 out of 31 Russian-launched drones that were aimed toward the Odesa Region in the South and the Kharkiv Region in the Northeast of the country were shot down by mobile drone hunting groups and Air Defense.
In addition, Synehubov said that no casualties were recorded from the Russian drone attack on a restaurant in the small hamlet of Velykyi Berluk, which is located around 100 kilometers away from Kharkiv.
Newsmen could not independently verify the details of the attack. Although it has stated that it does not purposefully target civilian areas, Russia did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began in February 2022, Kharkiv has been the subject of numerous attacks from Russia, including several in recent weeks.
One person has been hurt in a drone strike, according to the Regional Governor in the Black Sea port of Odesa.
