Ondo PDP and ZLP Defect to APC in Large Numbers

By Reporter 2

In Ondo State, numerous members of the Zenith Labour Party and the Peoples Democratic Party have defected to the All Progressives Congress, which is currently in power.

The official defection happened on Wednesday, February 14 2024 at the APC Secretariat in the State Capital of Akure.

Among the leaders of the defectors are Mr. Tomide Akinribido, a former member of the State House of Assembly; Mr. Dare Aliu, a former PDP candidate for the House of Representatives; Dr. Felder Olatunji; Olu Falolu; Ayodele Ikumawoyi; Pastor Olatunde Felix; and Chief Pius Akinrinmola.

The State Chairman of the Ondo APC, Mr. Ade Adetimehin, welcomed the defectors and stated that the departure had further reduced the PDP’s base of support, indicating that influential PDP figures had joined the Progressive Family.

Adetimehin further declared that the PDP in the State had become nothing more than skeletons. He revealed that many of their leaders were leaving the party to join the ruling All Progressives Congress.

“We just received the remaining pillars in Ondo PDP,” he declared. In Ondo State, the PDP has become a wasteland. The administration and the party are one in the Ondo APC. We collaborate as a single unit. There has been no founder and no joiner since joining the APC. In our Wards and Local Governments, you will receive equal treatment. Come, show off your abilities in the APC.”

Adetimehin commended the defectors on their recent decision and assured them that they would receive the same treatment as APC members.

One of the defectors and a former PDP Senator, Tomide Akinribido, spoke and pledged to support the party to guarantee the APC’s win in the upcoming Governorship Election.
