Bandits Kidnapped Over 200 Pupils, Teachers in Kaduna

By Reporter 3

Bandits have reportedly attacked LGEA Primary School, Kuriga (1), Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, and kidnapped several pupils and teachers in the school.

It was gathered that the incident happened on Thursday, 7 March 2024, at about 8:20 am shortly after the school observed morning assembly.

According to eyewitnesses, it was reported that the Headteacher of the school and some other staff members were among the people kidnapped.

A former Kaduna senator, Shehu Sani, expressed optimism that the victims would be free.

‘’It’s tragic to hear that 232 students have just been kidnapped in Kuriga village, Chikun LG in Kaduna State.”

“It’s the same village where a school Principal, Idris Sufyan was killed and his wife kidnapped over a month ago. However, I’m optimistic their freedom will be secured,’’ he said.

The junior and secondary schools relocated to the school building inside the Kuriga town a few years ago due to insecurity concerns, abandoning their former school building located outside the town.

A resident identified as Shitu corroborated the incident, he stated that most of the pupils ran out of their classes when they sighted the bandits on the school premises.

Another eyewitness, Lawal Kuriga, also said that the bandits marched the victims into the forest.
