Be God-conscious this Easter, Anglican Bishop Urges Christian

By Reporter 2

Dr. James Odedeji, the Anglican Bishop of the Diocese of Lagos West, has exhorted Nigerian Christians to keep God in mind at all times and approach life with eternity in mind.

In a statement released on Wednesday, 27 March 2024, the cleric urged the Nigerian Christian community to remember Jesus’ self-sacrifice, which made the Easter celebration possible.

Odedeji added in the statement titled “Celebrating the Lord’s Resurrection” that believers should constantly aim to be righteous despite the economic challenges faced by Nigerians.

“We are once again in that season of the year when we mark the trial, death, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ,” he declared. It’s important to remember that individuals who acceptably know and follow Him were granted entry to heaven through His selfless sacrifice.

“We must never forget that Christ, the Prince of Peace, is at the center of the universe and patiently awaits His real disciples’ arrival.

Therefore, “it is appropriate for Nigerian Christians to remember that life continues after 40 days of fasting during the Lenten season. They should always be aware of God, acknowledging that he is present everywhere, whether in public or private life.”

“Despite the economic realities facing our country, I congratulate all Nigerian Christians for being alive to celebrate Easter, but it must be done with eternity in mind.”

Additionally, Easter also serves as a reminder that wickedness is a disgrace and that holiness elevates a nation. All of us leaders and followers equally need to imitate Christ and live like the Christians of Antioch did.
