The discussion topics included advancing human rights, bolstering regional security, battling transnational crime, bolstering democracy, preventing gender-based violence, creating economic opportunity, and tackling migratory issues.
The Spain-United States Working Group on Central America is convening for the third time. It has previously met twice: on May 25, 2922, in Madrid and on December 14, 2022, in Washington.
The meeting was attended by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the European Union and Cooperation, the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, and the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation for Development (AECID) in addition to Todd Robinson, Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement, and representatives from the Department of State and U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
Meetings will still be held occasionally by the Working Group on Central America. The United States and Spain are committed to continuing their partnership on global problems of mutual importance, as evidenced by the Working Group conference.
