Kano APC Ward Suspends Abdullahi Ganduje

By Reporter 2

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been removed from the party.

On Monday, 15th April 2024, Ganduje was placed under suspension by his fellow Kano APC ward members in the Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State. The State Government had accused him of corruption, which led to his suspension.

Recall that the Kano High Court had declared that Ganduje will be charged on April 17, 2024, with offences pertaining to charges of bribery, diversion, and theft of money, including the alleged acceptance of bribes totaling N1.38 billion and $413,000, respectively.

Ganduje will be charged alongside his wife and six other people, according to Kano State Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice Haruna Dederi, who confirmed the news.

The accused parties are Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Hafsat Umar, Abubakar Bawuro, Umar Abdullahi Umar, Jibrilla Muhammad, Lamash Properties Ltd, Safari Textiles Ltd, and Lesage General Enterprises, as stated in the writ of summons.

The Kano State Government, which filed the criminal lawsuit against the eight respondents, stated that it was prepared to call fifteen witnesses to testify in front of Justice Usman Na’aba of State High Court number four.

It’s true. The case has been filed, and the hearing is scheduled for April 17, 2024. He stated, “He will undoubtedly be served.”

What he (Ganduje) doesn’t understand is that “you cannot run away from the evil day, it will definitely come to you, and this will even serve as a deterrence to all of us that are also in government now,” Dederi said, underscoring the importance of accountability in governance.

In response to a question on the case of jurisdiction, the Commissioner stated, “He was saying that we can’t prosecute him, forgetting that the offence also falls under the category of State offences.” We have even appealed Justice Liman’s decision, so it’s not entirely a Federal matter.
