Tinubu Appoints NESREA and NDRBDA CEOs

Dr. Innocent Bariate Barikor has been appointed by President Bola Tinubu to the position of Director-General of the National Environmental Standards and Regulation Enforcement Agency (NESREA). Prince Ebitimi Amgbare has also been appointed by the President to serve as the Managing Director and CEO of Niger Delta River Basin Development Authority (NDRBDA). These appointments were made public on Friday, 26 April 2024 in a statement that the President’s spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, signed.

He said that the President anticipates that the new leaders of these significant agencies would carry out their responsibilities with the highest loyalty to the country and unwavering observance of the strictest standards of professionalism, accountability, and exceptional service to the Nigerian people.

Dr. Barikor is a politician and educator. He served as a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly between 2011 to 2015, while Prince Amgbare is a retired Naval Officer and a former Commissioner of Bayelsa State.

Mr. Jim Ovia, a well-known banker and businessman, had previously been appointed by President Tinubu to serve as the Chairman of the Board of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).

The Presidency stated that Ovia’s job would be to guarantee that young people in Nigeria, no matter who they are, have access to higher education and the skills necessary to become important contributors to the knowledge-based global economy of this century and productive members of society.
