Governor Abiodun Sympathises with Victims of Abeokuta Gas Explosion

At Ita Oshin junction, a little distance from the roundabout, in Abeokuta Ogun State, there was a single gas truck accident with the inscription Gasco Marine, which resulted in a fire incident at approximately 5 p.m. The truck lost control while travelling inward from Abeokuta and collided with the road pavement before coming to a stop.
The truck boy died at the site, while the driver ran away. His remains are kept at the General Hospital in Ijaiye. It was also reported that four parked cars had burned to the ground, Five stores were also des by the gas explosion, one of which was utterly destroyed. To put out the fire, four vehicles from the Federal and Ogun State Fire Services were on the scene.
Governor Abiodun expressed regret in a statement on Saturday night, 27 April 2024 for the lives lost in the fire and the ensuing property damage. However, he called for calm, promising that all efforts were being made to bring the situation under control.
“The terrible gas explosion that happened in Abeokuta, Ogun State on Saturday, 27 April 2024, which resulted in the death of an innocent person and the destruction of property, saddens me greatly. This is a terrible event that has caused suffering and distress for numerous families,” he remarked.
“I offer my sincere sympathy to the family of the lone victim of this unfortunate occurrence on behalf of the government and people of Ogun State. My thoughts and prayers are with them during this trying time. I also would like to offer my condolences to those who have had their businesses damaged.” The Governor commended the prompt action of first responders and pertinent government entities in bringing the situation under control.
