As the State’s schools reopened on Monday, May 6, 2024 after the second term break, the ministry stated that May 13 would be the new date classes will resume. “In view of the above, all public and private schools are hereby directed to close schools accordingly, please,” the notice stated.

The State Ministry of Health said that at least 42 people have been officially declared dead since the State’s measles outbreak, and the outbreak has occurred in Gombi, Mubi South, and Mubi North.

The cases were reported in communities in the State that do not follow vaccination laws, as stated by Felix Tangwami, Commissioner of Health and Human Services. He also noted that 23 people died in Mubi-North and 19 died of the disease in Gombi Local Government Areas of the State.
