EFCC Caution Fraudsters, “We’re on the hunt 24/7”

By Reporter 2

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has issued a warning to fraudsters, stating that it is “on the hunt” for them twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

Ola Olukoyede, the Executive Chairman of the Anti-grant Agency, issued this warning during the commissioning of the EFCC’s New Radio Station, 97.3FM, on there, 16 May 2024 in Abuja and vowed that the Agency would stop at nothing to find and prosecute everyone involved in corrupt practices.

Following the organization’s recent accomplishments in prosecuting well-known individuals and recovering billions of naira in siphon funds. Olukoyede warned that the EFCC will not relent in its fight against corruption, emphasizing that the organization is now more committed than ever to eradicating corruption from the nation. “We’re getting stronger for the fight, and the EFCC will find fraudsters wherever and whenever they choose to hide.”

Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, officially opened the commission’s New Radio Station as a part of the EFCC’s plan to interact with the public and rally support for its initiatives.

He said the station would give the EFCC a forum to disseminate information, warn the public about corruption, and get input from Nigerians on its operations. He declared, “The notion of starting a radio station was initially floated under the leadership of one of my predecessors, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, in 2003, which marked the beginning of the trip to this epochal event.

For the EFCC, having a radio station is not a status symbol; rather, it is a vital tool for mobilizing the public against graft, with the power and depth of communication on par with our operational endeavors. Our ability to provide our news factually, unedited, and unvarnished is enhanced by having our own radio station.”

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, applauded the EFCC’s efforts to fight corruption and asked the organization to keep up the good job. The minister further mandated that the new radio station’s administration and personnel adhere to the standards and morality of journalism and broadcasting.

“The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) must be deliberate and strategic in crafting the narratives surrounding the critical fight against corruption in our nation, given its public-facing role, he stated. The Ministry of Information and National Orientation is committed to boosting public perception of government policies and programs and rebuilding public confidence in public communication. This aligns with the ministry’s initial two agendas.”
