Our Policies Focus on Nigerians’ Interests – Shettima

By Reporter 2

Vice President Kashim Shettima said that, given the current state of affairs, President Bola Tinubu’s policies and programs primarily focus on what will benefit the nation most. He made this statement while outlining the main points of the Renewed Hope Agenda during the APC Professionals Forum’s Policy Roundtable Conference on the “Asiwaju Score Card Series” at the Shehu Yar’adua Centre in Abuja on Tuesday, 21 May 2024.

“The path of every nation is unique. Every nation’s economic past and present influences it. Although we appreciate other countries’ efforts, Shettima said our priorities are what will benefit Nigeria the most.”

The Vice President, Dr. Aliyu Modibbo, Special Adviser to the President on General Duties (Office of the Vice President), represented him at the event. He stated that the Tinubu administration’s eight-point agenda lays out a clear framework for its policies and programs, while also outlining areas of focus that include promoting inclusive development, economic growth, food security, employment creation, poverty eradication, access to capital, the rule of law, and anti-corruption initiatives.

The speaker emphasized that the aforementioned measures are not merely written plans but rather concrete actions aimed at bringing real-life benefits to ordinary Nigerians.

Shettima provided specific examples of the administration’s investments in key sectors such as agriculture and housing. These investments aim to reduce the nation’s reliance on imports, boost local production, address the housing deficit, and stimulate economic growth through the ongoing Renewed Hope Housing Scheme.

“The Outsource to Nigeria Initiative, Investment in Digital and Creative Enterprises, and the Expanded National MSME Clinics are just a few of the initiatives we focus on to reduce unemployment and underemployment. All of these programs aim to increase job opportunities and promote economic inclusivity,” he continued.
