President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has signed the old National Anthem Bill into law even though the idea was opposed by Nigerians and had kicked against it.

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio announced this on Wednesday, 29 May 2024 during a joint session of the National Assembly.

He further stated that  President Tinubu would not address the House but only flag off the new anthem.

Speaker Tajudeen Abbas said the President canceled the address because June 12 is the official Democracy Day.
