Mamman Applauds the Smooth Conduct of Ongoing WASSCE

Prof. Tahir Mamman, Minister of Education, applauded the smooth conduct of the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). Mamman expressed confidence in the examination’s conduct during the monitoring session on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at the Government Secondary School Garki in Abuja.

The Minister stated that no incidents occurred during the examination and applauded the process. He voiced discontent with the infrastructure of the school, claiming that the proper thing will be done to give the school the necessary facelift. “We are here to check the ongoing WAEC examinations and the exams are going on very smoothly, we are happy with the nationwide exams and so far we haven’t had any incidents in the exams,”

Dr Amos Dangut, the Head of National Office (HNO) of WAEC, reports that over 1.8 million candidates were sitting for the examinations. He said that the 2024 exam had slightly more ladies than males, with a ratio of 51:49. He went on to say that the exam is being held in over 20,000 school centers across the country, while praising the candidates for their behavior during the process. “This year’s exam has been very successful, with no reports of any leaks, so everything is running smoothly. As the Minister has attested to it when moving round, you will see that there was calmness as the students were well comported and writing very well,” He added

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the May/June WASSCE, which began on April 30, 2024 is set to conclude on June 24, 2024 The examination is ongoing in four WAEC member countries, namely, Nigeria, Gambia, Sierra Leone, and Liberia.
