Zamfara State Governor, Daida Lawal, attended the first Northwest Security Summit, which was hosted by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in partnership with the Katsina State Government. The summit was held at a banquet hall in Katsina State alongside other Governors from the Northwest.
The Governor emphasized Zamfara State’s long-standing struggle with insecurity and drug misuse, which has greatly harmed the safety and well-being of the people and crippled socioeconomic progress for almost two decades.
“I believe that the outcomes of this summit will be crucial in shaping our future policy decisions and strategies to address these challenges,” said the Governor. “I express my gratitude to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, who was represented by the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, for his continuous efforts and unwavering support in countering banditry and other crimes in the Northwest region and Nigeria as a whole.”
“I’d also like to warmly thank our UNDP Nigeria partners for their important assistance and commitment. Their knowledge and experience are invaluable as we work to develop long-term solutions to our challenges. I congratulate my brother and friend, the Executive Governor of Katsina State, and the Northwest Governors Forum Chairman, Mallam Umar Dikko Radda, for his dedication to uniting the region against banditry.”
According to the DAILY POST, former President Muhammadu Buhari, members of the Federal Executive Council, regional legislators, the National Security Adviser (NSA), the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), the country’s Security Chiefs, Heads of Regional Traditional Institutions, members of the Diplomatic Corps, UNDP Officials, Industry Captains, and other critical stakeholders attended the event.
