By Reporter 2

Traders in Karu market Abuja were left crying uncontrollably after a fire broke out late Thursday, 27 June 2024 with one of the fire victim admitting that she lost over N10 million in the flames.

Speaking to Channels Television in the market on Friday morning, 28 June 2024, the fire victim, who would not disclose her name, was inconsolable and unsure how she would recover from the massive loss.

“Everything has burnt down. I was unable to recover anything. We get our food from here. Ah, my kids’ school fees are from there. “I can’t hold myself together, and I’m in pain. I’m not sure if the government can help us. I have over ₦10 million invested here. “I’m tired and don’t know where to begin,” she cried.

Though the FCT Fire Service responded to the fire at Karu Market, the inferno’s impact was tangible. The fire brigade had difficulty entering the location due to the large crowd.

Despite the hurdles, soldiers remained on the ground to keep order and ensure everyone’s safety. According to preliminary investigations, the fire was likely triggered by an electrical surge that quickly spread and engulfed areas of the market.

The complete extent of the damage is still being analyzed, but it is apparent that the fire had a huge impact on the neighborhood. The cause of the fire is still being investigated, and officials are attempting to ascertain the precise circumstances surrounding the breakout.
