Senate Confirms Bello Chairman of Code Of Conduct Bureau

The Senate has confirmed Abdullahi Bello’s nomination as Chairman Code of Conduct Bureau under Section 154 of the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s 1999 Constitution (as amended).
The approval came after Sen. Imasuen, Neda Bernards (Edo South), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct, and Public Petitions, submitted a report. His approval follows his appointment by President Bola Tinubu in March, and the Senate vetted him on Tuesday, 2 July 2024.
While appearing before the committee, Bello promised to make the country proud by carrying out his duties at the Code of Conduct bureau. “The work is about ensuring integrity, transparency, and accountability among public and civil servants,” he told reporters. Bello has over 25 years of expertise in consulting, banking, law enforcement, financial services, and academics.
“The President anticipates that the new Chairman, upon confirmation by the Senate, will lead the Bureau with utmost integrity toward the realization of its mandate of maintaining high standards of public morality in the conduct of government business.
Therefore ensuring that the actions and behaviour of public officers conform to the highest standards of morality and accountability,” Ajuri Ngelale, the President’s press secretary, had said this at the time of his selection.
