In response to the national appeal for ensuring food sufficiency in the nation, Danladi Aguye, a member of the House of Representatives representing the Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency contributed 600 sacks of fertilizer to farmers in his constituency.
The Chairman of the Lokoja Local Government Area, Comrade Abdullahi Adamu, who spoke on behalf of Aguye, explained during the distribution event in Lokoja on Sunday that the gesture was intended to assist farmers who lack the resources to buy fertilizers to increase their crop yield during the distribution event in Lokoja on Sunday, 14 July 2024.
Acting through Adamu, Aguye declared, “I am kicking off the distribution of one trailer of NPK fertilizer to farmers in my constituency today.” The two Local Government Areas that make up the Constituency will receive three hundred bags of fertilizer each. Herbicide and Insecticide cartons, containing about 160, will also be provided.
“I’m urging everyone with the means to close the gap to unite and work toward the common man’s advantage. Since farmers cannot afford the high cost of fertilizer, I am offering them my support to guarantee the state’s food supply.
Furthermore, I want to implore everyone residing in the Constituency to maintain their peaceful coexistence to prevent any obstacles for our farmers while they go about their farming activities.”
Earlier in his remarks, Hon. Shehu Tijjani Ebaiya, a member representing Lokoja 1 State Constituency, thanked Aguye for enhancing the government’s efforts to alleviate the suffering of the masses.
In an appeal to other representatives and well-meaning citizens, he urged them to back national and State development initiatives. “To ensure maximum productivity, I’m pleading with you to provide farmers with fertilizer and other agricultural products. My advice to the beneficiaries is that they should not sell the commodity but rather use it to ensure food sufficiency and improve their living conditions.” the lawmaker added.
