On Wednesday, 24 July 2024, Former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim and President Tinubu met at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

He just defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The Governors of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, and Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru, accompanied Anyim to his meeting with Tinubu.

The former SGF told reporters during the meeting that he joined the ruling party to fulfill his share of the responsibility for the growth of the nation. “We all need to put hands together to move the country forward, he stated, expressing his commitment to Nigeria’s advancement.

“I’m determined to make sure the nation continues on the right track, and I should be able to make my fair share of contributions.”

“Merely contributing to the quota does not imply working; rather, it means creating an environment that is favorable to advancement; I am not seeking employment. However, considering the difficulties the nation is currently facing, we must all work together to take the country forward.

He also declared, “It is the responsibility of every patriot to maintain a peaceful atmosphere during these turbulent times for the country. We live in turbulent times as a nation, and it is our collective responsibility as patriots to maintain peace.”

Pius Anyim was the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) under Goodluck Jonathan’s administration and the Senate’s ninth President from 2000 to 2003.
