Hardship Protest: Lagos Police Deactivate Explosive Device

By Reporter 3

In a sudden turn of events and a few hours before the commencement of the hardship protest, the Lagos State Police Command said its anti-bomb squad had deactivated an improvised explosive device in the Ikeja area of the State on Wednesday, July 31, 2024.

Benjamin Hundeyin, who is the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, confirmed the development to DAILY POST.

He was, however, unable to give details of the development at the time of filing this report.

TRW News reports that Nigerian youths had slated August 1 to 10 for a nationwide protest to express their grievances as a result of the prevailing economic situation in the country. Security agencies, however, had issued security alerts, urging the organizers of the protest to put off the plan.

When contacted about the deactivation of the explosive device, Hundeyin simply said, “Yes, it happened today.”
