Otti Appoints Nwaubani to Succeed BCA DG

Alex Otti, the Governor of Abia State, has appointed Francis Obinna Nwaubani as the new acting Director General of the Broadcasting Corporation of Abia State (BCA).

He took over Mrs. Esther Agu Anyanwu, who had been ordered by the Governor to proceed with her mandatory retirement. Following the departure of the previous DG, Hyacinth Okoli, Mrs. Esther Agu Anyanwu served in an acting capacity till her retirement.

Before taking over as acting Director General, she served as the Director of Finance (DF). The obligatory retirement of Mrs. Anyanwu was confirmed on July 30, 2024, circular from the Abia State Head of Service’s office.

The following was part of the circular for the Head of Service, HSA/S.0117/Vol.V/44, which Kalu Boniface signed:

“Directive to proceed on compulsory retirement:

“I am Directed to refer to the above subject and convey the directive of His Excellency Dr Alex Otti, OFR, the Executive Governor of Abia State for you to proceed on compulsory retirement with effect from the 31st of July 2024”.

According to the directive, the acting DG is to hand over to the newly appointed Director, Francis Obinna Nwaubani.

The circular further stated that in a recent interview held to fill the open position, the newly appointed DG, who works for the Department of News and Current Affairs, came out on top.

The newly appointed acting Director General, Nwaubani, expressed his humility to reporters upon confirming his position. I appreciate all of your well wishes and congrats. I ask for your unwavering prayers and any assistance you may provide for the enormous challenges that lie ahead.

Before the recent change, BCA, which operates radio and television stations, saw a few transmission outages for roughly two weeks.
