Kidnapped Prospective NYSC Member Regains Freedom After One Year in Captivity

Solomon Bassey Daniel, one of the prospective National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members, kidnapped on August 17, 2023, was reported to have been released by his abductors.

Newsmen previously reported that Daniel, alongside his seven colleagues and the driver of the Akwa Ibom Transport Corporation, AKTC, were kidnapped along Zamfara road while heading to Sokoto for the national assignment.

The other seven victims were released, remaining Daniel, who it was gathered the family was unable to pay the ransom.

Citizen Matthew Koffi Okono of ‘Open Forum’ who has been making frantic efforts for the release of Daniel stated this on different WhatsApp platforms, Friday night, August 23, 2024.

While thanking the public for their prayers during Daniel’s days in captivity, he said it was God that made his release possible and never mentioned if the ransom was paid.

Okono disclosed that Daniel is currently receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital.

He wrote, ‘‘FINALLY, SOLOMON BASSEY DANIEL IS FREE’’

‘‘God did what only He can do. He’s currently receiving medical attention. Thank you all for the prayers. To God be the glory.’’
