Police Raid Drug Hideout, Arrest 40 Dealers in Delta

By Reporter 2

The Delta State Police Command has taken 40 drug dealers into custody, at the well-known Swees Spirit Hotel Junction, in Asaba, the capital of Delta State.

According to information obtained by The PUNCH, the Police carried out a raid operation on Tuesday night, 3 September 2024, with assistance from other security personnel. It was discovered that the operation initially began in response to reliable information about a criminal hideout where drug trafficking was on the rise and seriously disrupting society.

“40 people were taken into custody for their involvement in the illegal drug trade during the operation, which was carried out with accuracy and diligence. A security source informed PUNCH correspondent that the suspects fled into the storm drainage along Okpanam Road in a desperate attempt to avoid being arrested, but the prompt and well-coordinated efforts of the police ensured their apprehension.”

According to the source, the operation would send a strong message to everyone that the State’s Security apparatus is dedicated to eliminating the threat posed by hard drug dealing and other criminal activities.

He declared that the raid would serve as a potent discouragement to individuals who think that partaking in such illicit activities is normal. To guarantee the security and welfare of every Deltan, he added, the government would continue to act decisively.

On Wednesday, 4 September 2024, SP Bright Edafe, the Delta State Command Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrest when contacted.

“Yes, it is true, we raided the area last night and arrested 40 suspects,” he stated. Though we haven’t officially announced it yet, a press release to that effect is planned.
