The Nigeria Labour Congress President, Joe Ajaero, has been arrested by operatives of the Department of State Service (DSS).

Vanguard gathered that he was taken into custody at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja this morning. Ajaero was going to board a plane to the UK for a formal assignment when he was pulled up by DSS.

Although the circumstances surrounding the arrest remain unclear, sources claim he has been handed over to the National Intelligence Agency (NIA).

Ajaero was scheduled to attend the Trade Union Congress (TUC) meeting being held in the UK today, according to sources.
