Kano Poll – APC Vows to Defend it’s Votes

By Reporter 2

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has vowed to defend its votes in the upcoming Local Government elections slated for October 24, 2024.

In a phone conversation with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday, 26 September 2024, Abdullahi Abbas, the party’s state chairman, revealed this.

Abbas said that the party would shortly hold its primary elections, to facilitate the formation of candidates for the 44 LGA elections. “We are making every effort within our power to guarantee that our supporters will participate in the coming election. With an emphasis on safeguarding votes and guaranteeing a peaceful process, the APC is galvanizing its supporters to engage in the election,” he declared.

In an effort to facilitate free, fair, and legitimate elections, Abbas pleaded with the State electoral commission to make sure that it offers all participating political parties support. “We expect the commission to provide equal opportunities to all candidates so they can participate without displaying any bias. We also expect a transparent electoral process and a calm environment throughout the entire election process.”

He gave his word that the party has started a house-to-house campaign to encourage its fervent supporters to turn out in large numbers and vote in the 44 Local Government elections on October 24. The party chairman declared that the party would not accept intimidation of any kind during the election process, even as he urged members to abstain from all types of violence before, during, and following the polls.

Kano state still remains a stronghold of APC and the party wants to maintain its lead. We therefore urge the commission to ensure integrity of the electoral process, which is crucial for Nigeria’s democratic development,” he added
