Ondo State Governor Approves The Death Penalty for Kidnapping.

The Ondo State Governor has approved the death penalty for those involved in and convicted of Kidnapping.
This was made known by Daily Trust on the 21st of July, 2025.

According to Daily Trust, the Attorney-General and Kayode Ajulo, Commissioner for Justice in the state, spoke on behalf of the Governor, after the State Executive Council meeting, on Saturday, the Abductor will be sentenced to death after conviction.

The commissioner of justice stressed that the move was part of impeccable efforts to eradicate insecurity and safeguard citizens across the States. The state has recently battled continuous cases of abduction.
Ajulo also emphasizes that abduction and cultism have become major threats to peace and order in society. He added that legal frameworks relevant to stopping this menace and improving the overall security landscape should be strengthened.

The state’s chief legal officer further said that proposals would soon be sent to the House of Assembly for necessary legislative action, including sentencing convicted kidnappers.
