Abduljabbar Umar, the Commissioner for Lands and Physical Planning for Kano State, has won the 2024 Revenue Generation Award for his Innovative Approach in the Kano Land Sector.

This was disclosed by Daily Trust on the 22nd of June, 2025.

According to Daily Trust, he took over an inefficient ministry, and in less than two years, Umar’s tenure brought transformative change, introducing a sweeping shift that is steering Kano’s land administration into the digital age, while boosting transparency, services, and revenue for the government.

This feat was not achieved overnight, but the result of a collective vision, a commitment to bring change and institutional excellence.

Among the Commissioner Umar’s earliest movements was the renovation of the physical infrastructure of the Ministry headquarters at Gidan Malamai.
