Rivers State Police Initiates Investigation Into Student’s Murder

The Rivers State Police investigated the murder of a 300-level student of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education. Identified as Julius Okpo by suspected cultists at Rumuolumeni, Port Harcourt. On Saturday, July 19, 2025.”

Grace Iringe-Koko, Police Spokesperson, says incident is cult related. Rival cult shoots Student. Police visited the scene. They rushed the victim to UPTH. Doctors confirmed death.
Iringe-Koko affirmed that an investigation was initiated or launched to fish out those responsible for the attack.
The statement reads, “On Saturday, 20th July 2025, at about 11:30 am, a report was received at the Rumuolumeni Police Station that one Julius Okpor, a 300-level student of Ignatius Ajuru University and an indigene of Okposi in Ogba/Egbema Local Government Area, was allegedly shot by members of a rival cult group.
“The tragic incident occurred around Cecilia Road, Rumuolumeni.”

“He also calls on residents to remain calm and cooperate with the police by providing credible information that could assist in the ongoing investigation,” the statement added.
