Chippa United, SA, Supporting their Goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali

In the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) semi-finals, South African club Chippa United is firmly supporting goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali and his nation, Nigeria.
At the Stade de la Paix, Bouake, in Ivory Coast on Wednesday night, the two nations will square off for a spot in the AFCON 2023 championship.
Unexpectedly, Chippa United, a South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) team, has shown support for their first-choice Super Eagles goalkeeper, Nwabali, when he plays against his own country.
Chippa United is thrilled with the amount of worldwide exposure that Nwabali’s triumph at the 2023 AFCON has brought about, according to a shocking statement signed by chairman Siviwe “Chippa” Mpengesi.
The chairman was cited as saying, “With Stanley’s rising profile and international attention it brings to Chippa United FC, the benefits have been nothing but positive.”
“Thus, I, together with Chippa United FC, support our player Stanley Nwabali and the Nigerian Super Eagles in their Wednesday matchup versus Bafana Bafana of South Africa. Best wishes are extended to the Super Eagles.”
In place of his regular first-choice keeper, Francis Uzoho, Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro started Nwabali in goal at AFCON 2023, and the Portuguese strategist was well rewarded for his decision.
Nwabali has so far preserved four straight clean sheets in Nigeria’s five tournament games, giving up just one goal on January 14 in the Super Eagles’ group A opening against Equatorial Guinea, a 1-1 draw.
