Gunmen have reportedly stormed Zurmi town, the Headquarters of Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, and killed a Divisional Crime Officer, DCO.

A reliable source, who is a member of the town, identified as Ibrahim Abubakar, said in a telephone interview with newsmen that the gunmen attacked the Divisional Police Headquarters, killed the DCO, and set it ablaze.

“The Divisional Police Headquarters has been set ablaze and most of the community members are on the run for their lives.”

“The terrorists claimed that it was a reprisal attack as the local Vigilante group had killed three of their members.”

” I can tell you that we can see them trooping in their hundred into the town riding motorcycles from where we are hiding in the bush.“

The State Police Command has not issued any statement on the matter, at the time of filling this report.
