Nigerian President Tinubu Departs for Qatar on State Visit
By Reporter 2
On Thursday, February 29, President Bola Tinubu left Lagos State for an official visit to Doha, Qatar.
This comes after the President visited Lagos on a working visit and gave a speech during the Red Line Train commissioning ceremony, which connected Agbado and Oyingbo.
Tinubu took time during his visit to Lagos to speak about many national concerns, such as the recent Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).
The President urged further cooperation between the Ministry of Transport and other States to expand railway infrastructure across the nation, saying that the inauguration of the Red Line represented the realization of the goal that he had fostered during his tenure as State Governor 25 years ago.
With 8 Stations in Agbado, Iju, Agege, Ikeja, Oshodi, Mushin, and Yaba, as well as a terminus at Oyingbo, the 27-kilometer LRMT Red Line rail system serves these locations. A post published early on Thursday morning, 29th February 2024, on Sanwo-Olu’s X account stated.
The Governor stated that increasing mobility in Lagos was not the only goal of the LMRT Red Line. “It’s about creating a new development pace and transforming our urban landscape.” He stated.
When fully operational, the Lagos Red Line Mass Transit rail system will carry over 500,000 passengers each day, according to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
