Cassie, aka Casandra Ventura, claimed on Thursday, 23 May 2024, in her first comments since a video showed her being attacked by rap mogul and former lover Sean “Diddy” Combs, that domestic abuse “broke” her heart.

Cassie did not mention Combs specifically in her Instagram post, but her statement comes a week after CNN aired hotel surveillance footage from 2016, which appears to show the hip-hop mogul beating, dragging, and kicking her.

“Domestic violence is THE problem. “It broke me down into someone I never imagined I’d be,” she wrote, praising supporters for their response. The outpouring of love has created a place for my younger self to settle and feel safe now, but this is only the beginning.

Ventura, who also goes by her nickname Cassie, accused Combs of repeated abuse in a Federal Court suit last November that was settled for an undisclosed sum. Combs did not admit wrongdoing. Combs apologized two days after the footage was published on CNN, calling his actions “inexcusable.”

Other legal complaints have been filed against the hip-hop legend, including one filed this week by former model Crystal McKinney, who claims Combs forced her to become intoxicated and then perform a sex act.
