“I Cannot Fix FCT Problems in 200 Years,” says Wike

By Reporter 2

Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has stated that 200 years will not be adequate to address the issues in the nation’s capital. The Minister pointed out that government is a continuity, which implies that someone else will take over and continue where he left off.

He spoke at the Ministerial Sectoral Updates in Abuja as part of the one-year anniversary celebrations for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu; Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike; Minister of Youth Development, Dr Jamila Ibrahim Bio; Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu; Minister of State for FCT, Dr Mariya Mahmud; Minister of State for Petroleum, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri; and Minister of State for Youth Development, Mr Ayodele Olawande attended the first session of the Sectoral Briefing.

Wike stated, “Even if I serve as FCT Minister for 200 years, I will not be able to tackle the entire FCT problem. You will give your knowledge to the best of your ability, and when another person arrives, they will continue where you left off. After all, the government is a continuous process.”

“That’s why Mr President told me, with all these projects scattered around, you can’t start new ones. We had to concentrate on completing the abandoned projects,” Wike explained.
