The Bayelsa Governorship election petition tribunal has dismissed the petition filed by the All Progressives Congress ( APC) and its candidate Timipre Sylva and upheld the re-election of Douye Diri as Governor of the State on Monday, 27 May 2024.

A three-member tribunal led by Adekunle Adeleye dismissed the petition for lacking in merit.

The tribunal on Monday, unanimously held that the petitioners could not produce any credible evidence to back up any of the allegations they raised against the outcome of the Bayelsa poll. Therefore, the panel struck out the petition and declared Gov. Diri as duly elected Governor of the State.
