McPherson University in Ogun State has received approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to offer seven new degrees. Medical Laboratory Science, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, Biochemistry, Microbiology, and Mass Communication are the newly approved programmes.
The accreditation of the of the courses in the University came after the October/November 2023 accreditation of academic programmes in Nigerian universities. The NUC granted full accreditation to all seven programs with high grades.
Sanmi Enigbokan, the institution’s Deputy Registrar for Information and Public Relations, said on Friday that the NUC’s Executive Secretary informed the university of the accreditation results.
According to the statement, the Vice-Chancellor Prof Francis Igbasan announced this during a recent meeting with the university community. He attributed the achievement to divine grace, faculty and staff dedication, and the availability of cutting-edge resources and facilities for all levels of teaching, learning, and research.
Igbasan urged everyone to prepare for future challenges as the institution strives for greater success. Igbasan stated, “The seven newly accredited programs are Medical Laboratory Science, Computer Science, Cyber Security, Software Engineering, Biochemistry, Microbiology, and Mass Communication.” Each program’s accreditation is valid until 2028.
“With this sequence of accreditations, McPherson University’s academic programmes are now fully accredited. This reaffirmed our status as a premier institution and one of Nigeria’s fastest-growing centers of learning.”
