A giant billboard promoting President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election, was seen mounted along the busy Area 1 in the Federal Capital Territory.

The campaign billboard has sparked conversations among commuters and other bystanders by subtly hinting at Tinubu’s candidacy for reelection.

The words “Grassroots support for Tinubu 2027, the 1019 initiative” were displayed on the campaign billboard featuring the President and his wife, Remi. This occurs even though Tinubu has not yet formally declared his intention to seek a second term.

Recall that, on May 29, 2023, Tinubu took office and realized his dream of becoming the nation’s President. Many Nigerians have experienced a variety of things under Tinubu’s 16-month tenure, especially in the wake of the removal of fuel subsidies and the floating of the national currency. The public’s discontent has been caused by these policies, which have been linked to severe economic hardship. The nationwide #EndBadGovernance protests, which occurred from August 1 to 10, were the result of this discontent.

There was no response when calls were placed to Bayo Onanuga, the president’s special adviser on information and strategy. As of the time this report was filed, he had not replied to a text message regarding the development.  PUNCH
