Global Outage: Meta’s Platforms Experience Downtime.

By Halimat

A global outage affected meta-owned platforms including Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram, leaving over half a million users worldwide unable to access these social media applications.

This global outage lasted for more than an hour, during which these social media sites were inaccessible, causing frustrated social media users to take to the X platform, where the hashtag #facebookdown was trending.

“We’re aware people are having trouble accessing our services. We are working on this now,” Meta spokesperson Andy Stone wrote on X, to which a user replied, “It is so hilarious that you’re telling us through another platform—that is your competitor, and it’s destroying Meta.”

Elon Musk, who purchased Twitter for $44 billion in late 2022 and subsequently rebranded it as X, posted a tweet stating, “If you’re seeing this tweet, it means our servers are up,” along with a meme making fun of his social media competitor.
