FCCPC Seals Chinese Supermarket in Abuja
By Reporter 2
The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has sealed the Chinese store in Abuja, within the China General Chamber of Commerce.
After questioning the Nigerian employees, the FCCPC officials stormed the premises on Monday, 22 April 2024, and shut down the supermarket.
Recall that Nigerians were outraged by a Chinese supermarket’s discriminatory policy that excluded them, and allowed only Chinese nationals who reside in the country entry to the supermarket.
According to Shaibu Sanusi, the facility manager, Nigerians who reside within the complex can access it, but those who live outside do not shop there. Most of the workers from Nigeria revealed that the owner had left when the Commission’s Officials raided the Chinese supermarket on Monday.
According to the employees, Cindy Liu Bei, the Chinese supermarket owner, and her family left on Monday at 8:26 a.m., as seen on the closed-circuit television camera. FCCPC officials then shut down the supermarket.
