Plane Carrying Malawi’s Vice President and Nine others Disappear from Radar

The Malawian Government has acknowledged that an airplane carrying Vice President Saulos Chilima and nine people has disappeared. Colleen Zamba, the Government’s Secretary, published a statement on Monday, 10 June 2024, confirming this. It stated that all attempts by aviation authorities to establish touch with the aircraft after it went off the radar had failed.
It stated, “The Office of the President and Cabinet wishes to inform the general public that the Malawi Defense Force Aircraft that left Lilongie today, Monday, June 10, 2024, at 09:17 Hours, carrying Malawi’s Vice President, the Right Honorable Dr. “Saulos Klaus Chilima and nine others, failed to make its scheduled landing at Mzuzu International Airport at 10:02.
General Valentino Phiri, Commander of the Malawi Defense Force, has informed His Excellency Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera of the incident, and the President has cancelled his scheduled departure for the Bahamas, ordering all regional and National Agencies to conduct an immediate search and rescue operation to locate the aircraft. “The public will be updated on any developments in the situation as facts are established.”
