Bishop Oyedepo Cautions Nigerians to Mind their Business Over Church Decision
By Roselyn James
Bishop David Oyedepo, the founder of Living Faith Church, has told those who are upset about the decision of the church to replace its leadership to mind their business. Critics should refrain from challenging the choice to retire some of the assistant pastors, according to the Bishop.
Bishop Oyedepo has been under fire from Nigerians over the retirement of Bishops David Abioye and Thomas Aremu, his two vice presidents. The two clergymen would be retiring after serving three and four decades of service in the ministry, It was reported that their retirement aligned with the church’s operating policies. Oyedepo, however, took issue with the criticism that greeted the church’s decision.
Speaking on Tuesday, 16 October 2024 during Bishop Aremu’s farewell ceremony at Winners Chapel in Orita Bashorun, Oyedepo disclosed that the church’s 1998 Administrative Policy was reviewed in 2001 and its 2012 Mandate had been amended in 2024. He stressed that the ministry functions according to divine order.
“My advice to commentators is to study to be quiet and mind your own business,” he declared. “Finding out what makes something function and studying what is effective are wise decisions. Here, everything functions as it should.” Bishop Oyedepo said that no one has an inheritance in a pastor or teacher, citing Genesis 49:26 in the Bible.
With the words, “There’s no such thing as the best today or tomorrow; what matters is your pursuit of God,” he urged him to keep an outlook on improvements. Aremu was advised by Oyedepo not to let unjustified criticism divert him from staying in touch to maintain the flow of grace.
